Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is said to be dampening the spirits of megastar-politician Chiranjeevi by stalling his chances of becoming the Rajya Sabha member.
According to reports from New Delhi, while PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana recommended the name of Chiranjeevi, the Chief Minister put up a different argument before AICC incharge of Andhra affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad that the party desperately needs the services of Chiranjeevi at the state level and it cannot afford to send him to New Delhi.
Moreover, it is difficult for the party to win the by-elections in Tirupati assembly constituency at this stage, if Chiranjeevi is sent to Rajya Sabha.
Thirdly, Kiran is learnt to have argued that already two Kapu leaders were inducted into the state cabinet and if Chiranjeevi was sent to Rajya Sabha, it would create heartburn among the other communities, particularly Dalits. And Chiranjeevi cannot be taken into the Central cabinet since already another Kapu – M M Pallam Raju is there in the cabinet.
Instead, the Chief Minister reportedly suggested that Chiranjeevi could be inducted into the state cabinet as home minister. If required, he could be sent to Rajya Sabha in 2014, he suggested. It remains to be seen whether the high command would buy Kiran’s argument.

Rajyasabha fever is hitting Congress party from all sides and the lobbying of 'netas' is putting'full stop' in Chiru's future, say analysts. Check this out now!
Firstly, Chiru was promised a Rajyasabha seat and induction into the Central cabinet for his 'merger' act. This is an open secret. However, the ruling party should rest either two time RS seat holder KK or ex-union minister Dasari Narayanarao to facilitate megastar's entry. Though CM Kiran and PCC Chief Botsa are working as Chiru's pillars inside the party, other seniors are lobbying stronger than this. Other day, Dasari met Sonia at her residence to finalize his third opportunity as RS member.
Yesterday, KK's team met the high command and state in-charge Ghulamnabi Azad to propose his name for the third time. The Telangana Congress MPs made a strong demand on behalf of themselves to give a third chance for K Keshava Rao. Are they letting their 'Telangana' demand down for high-command to give a chance for KK is another doubt here! However, with Dasari and KK tightening screws for their demand, how will the Centre satisfy Chiru and other aspirants like Geetha Reddy, GVK is to be seen!
