Use Quartz Schedular if your app is spring based then it us much easier to integrate. Quartz is enterprise level schedular in J2ee world.

Besides the option you gave, there are some other options.
These options are in random order. not particularly in that preference.
Option 1:
Write a program and use Spring Batch to schedule it.
Here the interval 10 min is start of run to start of run
Option 2:
Write a program
and
if you use Linux environment - set up a chron job.
This is the easiest.
interval is start to start
Option 3:
Write a program
and
write another program with thread and run it.
In this case - the interval is end of first run to start of next run.

need to have a job . job is to get list of clients Arraylist (could be around 1000 average)
along with some internal securities list for each client the ArrayList is a Static variable and need to get updated every 10 minutes. that means need to schedule
A job which will call the corresponding method to update data for every 10 minutes. please suggest a best way to do that.
First iam planning to do it for ArrayList and if it is successful will go with XML update.
