I met Vasanta Nageswara Rao's SIL Dr. Chandra last year when I was in India. I also happened to meet his friend who works for govt and is a very noble person. Both Dr. Chandra and his friends are very good and both are oncologists. I will try to talk to him tonight and will let you know. |

sorry to hear this E_O.
my wife's uncle is going through this right now. couple years ago he was diagnosed with AML. He went through the chemo last year and spent about 25 lakhs in basavarama tharakam hospital, it's the best in AP.
Unfortunately it recurred this year and he just finished the chemo again this year, spent another 25 lakhs. he spent about 2 months in the hospital each time. now his immune system is very vulnerable (as he is 55) and he got TB and presently under that medication. he is just out of hospital couple of weeks ago. he is awaiting for a match to go through the stem cell replacement. In India, they don't have a well organised database and it's very cumbersome process.
your relative has a better chance as he is very young. If you can manage through a christian missionary, I believe Vellore is one of the best and cheaper option in India. other options are AIIMS, Delhi and TATA (I think bombay).
overall it's expensive and time consuming process. you need to have resources and one should be able to spend time and energy to effectively manage the available options there. |
