I wanted to add something to this, because at the moment I am unable to call police back about this incident. I was at work when a few guests of mine came up to me and told there was a man who "probably escaped from a hospital, wearing only his hospital gown and flailing his arms around, while running around I-405 South" I then called 911 and apparently it was too late to stop the guy from being killed. In my opinion the guy may have been frightened that he just struck someone, and instinct brought him to drive off, considering it would be a very unusual situation seeing a man in the middle of a freeway. Although I wouldn't have continued to drive off, I just did want it to be known that this man was definately a bit out of his head and had no right to be running around aimlessly in the freeway. I feel bad for the suspect... |

comments from the article Does anyone know why the victim was crossing I-405 just before 2A.M.? How sad is this, no just for the victim because the man didn't understand the laws, he was released with no bail! This is a travesty of our justice system, if he had been an American citizen we would be in jail. @senormoofer, in India yes if you run someone over, no big deal, just keep driving, they don't a legal system like ours, it's okay to kill poeple over there with your car!! Lets figure out the hour the accident happened, the hour he turned himself in then how long it takes to not be under the influence. Oh sorry I didn't understand. Bet he will understand when he sits in jail (if he does). Oh well.. let him go.. why not they let everyone else off the hook with a slap on the wrist - I'm sure he was under the influence went home got it all out of his system and then turned himself in- It's ok though, you watch the King County Prosecutor and her friends will let him go with nothing. Wait wait wait, "unfamiliar with the United States legal system"??? What do they do in India, just forget about it and go about your daily life once you run someone over with your car?? Possible charges? REALLY!? HOW ABOUT VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER IDIOTS. BTDB Sinna Pans Secretary.Proud Secretary of BPFA (BTDB Praveen Fans Association)

http://www.king5.com/news/local/Suspect-in-fatal-Kirkland-hit-and-run-turns-hims elf-in-93287864.html SEATTLE - A man has turned himself in in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred early Sunday on I-405 in Kirkland. The 30-year-old Bellevue man turned himself in at the Snohomish County Sheriff's south precinct office in Mill Creek. A pedestrian was struck and killed while trying to cross southbound Interstate 405 near the 124th Street off-ramp just before 2 a.m. Sunday. The driver of a red Kia Spectra fled the scene without stopping. A witness followed the car until she got license plate information. The Washington State Patrol says the suspect turned himself in on Sunday afternoon. He provided a full statement and turned the vehicle over. The State Patrol says the man, originally from India, has been in the U.S. for about 2 1/2 years. He said he was unfamiliar with the United States legal system and was not sure what to do. After contacting a friend he realized that he should contact police. The man was released to his family while prosecutors decide on possible charges.
