Account Job Description - UNIX and LINUX team Installation Consultant
Summary: Global installation manager will assign server installations to consultant for managing end to end. You will be responsible to assign, perform OS work, monitor, and track server installs once they are racked in the data center and through delivery to the application installation team. This includes LAN set up, OS installations, storage requests, security installation, tools installations, file system build outs, and validation checks. Some technical functions you will not perform but will monitor and track progress. You will work with HP and customers globally on the enterprise account. You will be part of the regional team with other responsibilities regarding incident, problem, and change management, along with IT consulting work.
Skills: Minimum mid-range knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating system required. Large enterprise experience very helpful. Knowledge of LAN and Datacenter concepts. Microsoft Office tools: Outlook, Excel, Word, Office Communicator. HP Service Desk tool. Change control concepts. Ability to manage deadlines. Ability to communicate clearly.
· Apply advanced technical knowledge to operate one or more technology areas (e.g. server administration, technical security management, performance management) or customer groups that are critical or high-risk. Integrate technical knowledge and business understanding to create superior solutions for HP and for customers.
· Incident Management: Resolve single- and cross technology incidents independently. Work with team members to resolve unusually complex or cross technology incidents.
· Escalation Management: identify, manage, and lead escalations through L3. Work with others to help manage escalations through L5.
· Problem Management: Proactively and reactively look for solutions to prevent problems from occurring in team/technology area.
