TRS channel tops the TRP ratings!
Telangana Rashtra Samithi-sponsored Telugu television channel Raj News reached the top position among all the Telugu channels in the states in the last few weeks.
According to latest television reports, Raj News bagged the maximum TRP ratings, surpassing TV9 and pushing it to the second position, followed by TV5, ETV2, NTV, ABN-Andhra Jyothy and HMTV. In the Telangana districts, the viewership for Raj News is said to be the highest obviously because of the strong Telangana sentiment, but what is surprising is that it got the NO. 1 position in Hyderabad in the last couple of weeks, though the state capital has maximum number of Andhra viewers.
One of the reasons for this strange phenomenon in Hyderabad is the by-elections in the north-Telangana districts. There was a lot of curiousity among the Hyderabadis as to what would happen in the by-elections and whether the victory for the TRS would have any impact on the real estate activity in Hyderabad. Secondly, the people apparently did not like the overdose of Odarpu Yatra of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in Srikakulam and East Godavari districts. While Sakshi channel did not have any other programme except Odarpu Yatra, the other channels like NTV, TV5 and TV9, too, had shown too much of Jagan that obviously irritated the viewers. Thus, they switched over to Raj News, say observers. |
