I feel as far as the quality of ARR, there is no looking backward for him, he is experimenting to his soul and moving forward, his audience are not moving at the same speed he is moving thats the difference,
I can be that kind of an example, I am stuck with melodies of Ilayaraja and cannot move out of it. I appreciate ARR music but not to the core of happiness I get to listen the melodies that I grew with of Ilayaraja. Those still give pleasure to my ears and dont want to go for something new when I have handful already.

ARR gave all hits with Rajni..problem is rajni is making one movie in two years and ARR got only few chances compared to IR....
oka Muthu.. songs and BGM elaa untundho choodandi.. everyone agreed that the movie's range improved because of ARR

One of the harshest review of Raavan music of ARR
I am aware I may have gone majorly overboard in criticizing Raavan here, but frankly it kills me to see people praising something just bcz it is supposed to be praised. We should stop being afraid of admitting we cant understand "genius" when we dont! Everyone makes mistakes and its stupid to cover up one mistake with another.
This is unconventional music which fails to touch or move...Lets be honest and gutsy enough to call it tht!

actually, this was the main reason as I said before, the way he grew was to bring suprises in his tunes, he tend to suprise everytime, but some times we dont understand his experiments, when we grew to that level we might, that is different story.

But whatever said and done, the usage of Northern classical does not mean that
ARR has lost his 90's touches. He never lost his touches...he has only
developed his music to a new level. When most MDs sit and compose a song in a
customary manner, ARR doesn't even stick to what he created. He keeps creating
new genres in music and moves forward.
But the problem here is that some listeners (his fans included) only tend to
think his 90's songs as magical and amazing...hence the uses of words such as
"he lost his touch", "there's no longer soul in his songs" etc. But come to
think of it, how long do you want him to sit and compose songs like Kadhal
rojave and Minnale? Don't get me wrong, I love these songs. I truly believe
these songs are amazing and stunning numbers, but so do songs like Munbe Vaa
and Newyork Nagaram.
It's kinda distressing that after all the development and changes ARR has
painfully brought to the Indian music, there are still some who want him to
stay to where he was 17 years ago.

Esper mama, there is definetely grandness in orchestrization, it is at a times so heavy and loud, that it appeared to be noise,
I feel ARR is no more able to deliver to south indian masses. He has moved on from his olden days like roja, indira, gentleman, kilakku seemayile, duet, minsara kanavu and so on.
Hindi lo kooda he is able to deliver to only few directors and few lyricists as they suit his tunes, Also he can experiment on Sufi style music in Hindi not in south.
Given the tunes mades from programming, they can be so impossible for lyrcists to write words to the music, Not every one is rajashree or vennelakanti.,
Unless lyrics sound well, even the tune is good the song cannot appeal.
Going to ARR for music has two issues, delivering on time and cost,

Gas gadu appudey pulihora kalipesadu ARR meeda.
He is known as the Mozart of Chennai and it was few years back when he came in as a silent prodigy but soon took the entire world by storm and also won two Oscars. He is none other than A R Rahman and just like any other celebrity, he seems to have lost grip of his tunes.
Apparently, Rahman composed the tunes for two of the most ambitious movies in the south. While one is ‘Komaram Puli’, the other is the much hyped ‘Robo’. However, reports have arrived from market and it says that songs are not received well by many. Even the much talked about ‘Raavan’ also misfired musically.
Many are now getting into this question as to whether Rahman’s magic is out. While this is one side, the other side is that Rahman has now begun to concentrate on the international circuit and due to this, he is unable to connect with the Indian masses. At one end, some say that he is a level headed music director with success not his first priority. Well, it is about time he opens his mouth and reveals something or let his music do the talking.
