The felicitation of Indian Idol Sreeramachandra Mynampati by the state government on Saturday was a colourful event. Though it was Sreeram all the way at the Lalithakala Thoranam, there were loud cheers for chief minister K Rosaiah as well, surprisingly though.
Rosaiah came a little late to the function and in the meantime, Sreeram and other singers entertained the crowds. An upcoming singer rendered the popular song ‘’Okka Magaadu” by changing the lyrics a bit to suit Sreeram’s achievement in the Sony television’s much acclaimed realty show. The compeer of the programme said Sreeram was really an “Okka Magaadu” as he had come to the top beating several competitors.
One of the members from the audience said: “Rosaiah kooda okka magaade” (Even Rosaiah is also the only tough man), sending others into peels of laughter. And Rosaiah came on to the stage, there was a big round of applause. And true to his reputation, Rosaiah made an inspiring speech. Somebody said from the crowds: “this old man has real stuff in him.”
