When it comes to superstars of Indian cinema, many feel that it comes from a hype than genuine appeal and charisma.
However, there are exceptions to that and those exceptions are very much in our southern circuit. The one name that stands tall in that list is that of superstar Rajinikanth. However, folks in our state tend to feel that there is an equivalent to Rajini and that is megastar Chiranjeevi.
Then why this vast contrast in terms of appeal and respect? Here is a small comparison between both icons. Rajinikanth scores big time with his simplicity and humble approach despite his towering success. He makes secret donations on a large scale but he doesn’t reveal his name, only those who are receiving it know where it is coming from. There is no Trust he has formed for collecting funds. Just like the divine saying goes, he has been giving in crores and getting in multi crores.
Today, Rajini is 61 years but he is still expanding his donations. He has gone international in his fame and no exaggeration in saying that he is above Amitabh Bachchan in that aspect. Though he is more of a brand, he doesn’t talk about his greatness. Coming to Chiru, some of his statements prior to the elections or during the success of ‘Magadheera’ easily reflected his self- propaganda. He also started a charitable trust but it looked like an option of doing business because nothing is free in it. Due to this, people did not get connected to that.
Though it is claimed that a nominal amount is collected for buying blood from Chiru blood bank, the reality is something else there, at the end, it all became commercial. Then, the next blunder came from Chiru when he entered into politics with the idea of becoming a chief minister. He lost his image and also his aura along with fame. Earning respect and regard from people is not rocket science, the fundamental lies in giving back to society and bringing about a difference to the people’s lives.
Chiru doesn’t have to build skyscrapers, even a small walking park or a proper laying of road in his constituency will do the job for starters. Or else he will never gain his glory or the true affection of the people
