Undoubtedly, Rajnikant has great fan following in Andhra Pradesh too. But Shankar is a bigger brand than Rajni. Right from his maiden film, Gentleman, Shankar’s films are collected on part with the Tamil version. Films like Oke Okkadu, Boys and Aparachitudu are, in fact, grossed more in Andhra Pradesh than the Tamil versions did in Tamilnadu. He repeats his magic again with his most-hyped film, Robot, starring Rajnikant. Despite all the confusion surrounding the movie’s release in Nizam, the film shattered many records. It collected Rs 3.75 Crores (share) in Nizam area in the just three days and ending up the second biggest opener in the history of Telugu cinema after Magadheera.

Record openings

Magadheera collected about Rs 4 Crores in the first three days (share) in Nizam and Pawan Kalyan's Jalsa’s figure is somewhere between 3.25 Crores to 3.40 Crores. Robot, on the other hand grossed, nearly 3.75 Crores. Which is just short of Magadheera’ s revenues. Had Sun Pictures publicized well and sold it off to a reputed producer/buyer, the movie would have definitely crossed Magadheera’s openings.

Not just in Nizam but also all over the Andhra Pradesh, Robot is opened with shattering collections. By far these are the best collections for any dubbed movie.
