Not to undermine the innings Lakshman played, I think the article is bit overboard. Lakshman played probably the best knock since Kolkata test. I beg to differ on the comments regarding MOM - that if Sehwag, SAchin or Dravid played that innings thay they would have got the MOM. Yes, had the played such an innings in the second innings after their batting in the first innings. They deserve to be MOM. I do not see anything wrong with Zaheer getting the MOM as he was instrumental in restricting the Aussies in the first innings and cleaning them up in the second innings - which was what Australia could not do and lost the game. Lakshman's contribution is as important as Ishant's was in the match. Like Lakshman he was injured in the first innings and could not bowl but bowled his heart out in the second innings and started the collapse of the Australian innings by taking three quick wickets when Aussies were running away with the match. And add to that the support and the innings he played with Lakshman to get the match back into India's hands. The fact that Ishant played more balls in the partnership with Lakshan clearly shows that his innings is as important as Lakshman.

And just because someone in the media have said that Lakshman is not a great batsman does not hide the fact that he is not a GREAT player. He is probably the only batsman after Sachin that Aussies pay to go and watch live. That itself is a testimony of his greatness.

aa dick head ki teleedemo....same ishant and Laxman had another match winning partnership in Perth test 3rd inningsw hich India won too. so its not new for laxman to play with ishant.

Laxman scored at run a ball 73 in 79 balls even after refusing 10 singles so that alll that ishant needed to do was just block and score only when it is ba bad ball which he did extremely well....very good chemistry between the two. Ishant should get equal credit as Laxman.

I think Ishant deserves more credit than Laxman. It was perplexing that Laxman allowed Ishant to play more than 15 overs in a partnership of 21.4 overs. He is a batsman and should have taken more strike. How many times has he done this. Take a single on the first ball of allow the tailender to take a sinfgle on the last ball. If Ishant had got out in the first few over the match would have been over. Too much glorification for laxman very little mention of Ishant.

Look at his third and fourth innings average: 50.57!! In comparision, Hazare: 43.10, Mankad 28.48 , Dravid 43.53, Tendulkar 43.28, and Sehwag 30.80. Only the great Gavaskar 51.46 has a better performance under the highest level of pressure.
