I did the same with my iMac no probs Gudi bro...
replaced one of the 512MB with 2GB few years back... it running good on 2.5GB ..

just the card replacement from the bottom opening... no others config change needed..
If needed I can tell you model make etc of the ones I used..

may be this post of mine too late.. too much of bending CLIPART--briques

When I bought the iMac originally it has only 1GB RAM. I think I bought the mac in 2007, sariga gurthu ledu. ippudu baaga slow ayipoyindi. I am thinking of adding 4GB. remove the existing 1GB and insert 2 x 2GB RAM in the two slots. easy ye gada ala cheyatam. I don't want to take this to the dealer.
