Even though its controlled by ayurvedic doctor, fasting concept is accepted is what I wanted to say. Religion might have added this to their benifit as its more human thing than originally what it was supposed to be,

Ayurveda says that you have to follow 'fasting' under a vaidya's guidance.You can not follow whenever you want.Example:fever vachinappudu doctor crocin tablet ichaadu anukondaamu.yeppudu padithe appudu crocin vesukokudadu kadaa??'fasting' kudaa anthe only under medical supervison.
I studied ayurveda for about a year with Swami Ananthanada,chennai.Basically he is from Tiruchuli where Ramana Mahrshi was born.He used to conduct courses in praninc healing, herbal medicine etc on weekends in chennai. I am a 'certified pranic healer' too. |

Upavasam concept was not created by religion, it was there ages. Even Ayurveda finds fasting is cure for many health issues. They might have added religion color to make it more followable.

There was a reason for this creation of his son maintaining his celebacy. The link was established somewhere during the war where. Ravana's brother ahiravana who was ruling pathala lanka, a lanka similar to lanka in pathala lokam which is impossible to get there.
Ravana knowing about Rama and lakshmana, he asks his help. Then Ahiravana decieves Hanuman who was protecting the entire sena during war at night as vibheeshana and kidnaps Rama and lakshmana.
He has hanuman's son guarding patala lanka, this as a way to enter and an alarm system which tells if something is going thru the weighing system (Traasu), if something fishy is found it will on the alarm system and then they will catch the person.
It was impossible for Hanuma to know where Ahiravana was and how he can die. Only Hanuman's son Makaradwaj will know the secret of his Ahiravana's death which lies in five bees if Hanuman can kill them at once, he can die. This was told to Hanuman when he goes to rescue Rama and Lakshman and during nick of the time, he gets the secret from his son and saves Rama/Lakshmana.
There are more details but this is what is brief.

BTW ramayanam chadivite, Hanumantudi noti venta vache prati maata loni depth artham ayite, prati word ki reason untundi why he told something like that why not something ani. Thats great scholar he was. Every act was the only proof of his knowledge.
There was one snippet.
After finding where Sita is, and informing Rama about Sita. Rama says, I cannot give you anything other than hugging you ani hug cheskuntadu.
After some time Lakshmana asks why he did that, why didnt he give anything.
Rama says, if I have to help him or give him back some thing greater than the help he did to me, hanuma ki manaki vachina kashtam kante ekkuva kashtam ravali, alanti kashtam hanumaki rakoodadu ani emi ivvaledu antaadu.
Rama/hanuma combination lo words depth is just unimaginable.

As we know Hanuma is chiranjeevi and Bheema is also son of Vaayu. So there was an incident where both meet.
When pandavas are near Badri, one day Droupadi sees a fantastic flower( sougandhika) coming blown by air and fall near that place. She asks Bheema to get few more impressed by the fragrance and the way it looks. Bheema in search goes and eventually meets Hanuma. Then during course of events, he promises to be on Arjuna's chariott to be witness of Kurukshetra.
Other than that there is no direct connection or any involvement of Hanuma in Mahabharata.

1. Why is He called Hanuma?
Hanuma means "davadalu", when Indra hits him with Vjarayudham for trying to put sun in mouth, he was hit on davadalu and they get damaged. So is called Hanuma.
2. What is he Chiranjeevi?
Rama blesses him to be chiranjeevi just because he has to be there as long as human exists to take care of them as he took care of Rama, Lakshmana, Sita, Sugreeva and many others in Ramayana. Also since he is selfless serves where ever devotion to Rama is there.
3. Whats so special about him to get Devata's status
If we take any character of human, he remains as highest of it and benchmark of the character. Bala, buddi, parakrama, yukti, bhakti, alochana, self-less, help, veda vedanta, knowledge thinking, talking whatever character, no one has done it to perfection like him and on the top he was complete self-less.
Ramayana, cannot be imagined without Hanuma. The way he helped every one, they way he saves lives at the right time proves what he is? When Sugreeva was about to die, he saves him, When Rama/Lakshmana are about to suicide, he saves them, When Sita was about to commit suicide, he saves them. When Lakshmana is subconcious, when lakhs of vanaras got hit in war, he saves them bringing sanjeevani. When Bharata was about do something unusual, he goes and saves saying Rama is coming. He is a great saviour.
4. If he is Brahmachari, how come he is married to Suvarchala.
Suvarchala has asked a boon that she want to marry someone who doesnt have kamam towards women. The reason is she wanted a husband to perform vratas, kalyanam, yagas and other rituals which cannot be performed without husband and wife. In the world it was only Hanuma who fit to this requirement and he didnt marry for himself, he did it for others.
5. If he was so powerful, why didnt he kill vali and help his master Sugreeva.
Due to the curse, he doesnt know his strength. He came to know about his strength only when he was told and sent to Lanka. Till then he didnt know how powerful he was.
6. Is he an amsa of Shiva?
Yes there are some places this was told. The self-less character matches to Shiva, so it is believed that he is amsa of Shiva.
7. What he can do to us, what he expect from us.
యత్ర యత్ర రఘునాథ కిర్తనం;
తత్ర తత్ర క్రుత మస్థకాంజలిం;
భాష్ప వారి పరిపూర్న లోచనం;
మారుతిం నమత రాక్షసాంతకం
He always stands by dharma, wherever dharma is there he will be there to help who follow them. He is there automatically where Rama Nama is told. Thats the same reason why he was on the chariott of Arjuna, and where he is there, victory will be there. All we need to do is follow dharma, say the lord Rama's name and he will take care of us. - believed and experienced by many greats.
