Onlymovies:
these are the following normally offered in the US/Canada by employer with group rates (which are much lesser than if you were to buy outside).
1) Basic life insurance (normally 1x base salary and premium is covered by employer)
2) Voluntary life insurance (its optional and coverage limit varies for each company, premium paid by employee)
3) Voluntary AD&D (optional and same as in #2)
4) Critical illness (optional and same as in #2)
5) Spousal critical illness (same as above)
6) Spousal voluntary life (optional and normally limit to 500k, premium paid by employee)
7) Long-term disability (employer will have minimum coverage but there will be an option to increase this to 60% salary + COLA)
8) Business travel accident (company covers this with 2x salary standard)
9) Dependent voluntary AD&D (optional)
10) Dependent voluntary life (optional)
Apart from the above you will have regular medical and dental coverage anywhere from 80% to 90% of the cost being covered for drugs and procedures.
It is advisable to take max allowed life insurance, Critical illness and Long-term disability coverage. Family should not be put in a position to worry about finances, already they will be dealing with the shock if something unfortunate happens to you..my two cents..

yes, that will be little costlier outside..but some plans will be there still better outside for more coverage...but problem is with terms and conditions....conditions will be more legitimate when applied from outside

naaku nayapaisa aasthi ledu thammudu india lo. so I never had to go through that. official white money ayithe direct gane thechukovachu anukunta (with in some limit). or close friends lo evarikanna akkada rs ichi ikkada $ collect chesukotam oka route.
okappudu nenu India lo baaga money karchu pette time lo (for my father's health), one of my friend gave me cash there and collected $ here.
