Ntr_rocks:I don't think rockets have a player who can guard lbj for 40 min.
I think they are one of the best equipped teams to handle him between Luc, PJ Tucker and Trevor Ariza...all 3 are solid defenders. Nobody will stop a great player but i think between the 3 they will be fine.
Bracket broken in favor of Warriors, with Stiffle Tower Jazz are the 3rd best team, with Jimmy Butler Wolves are the 4th best team, OKC can be a pain in some match-ups...all are in Rockets bracket.
If Blazers get knocked out before Moe Harkless returns, Warriors are only dealing with Kwahi less Spurs and Pelicans. Even with Moe Harkless, don't think Blazers are a very good team. |

No, Am not under-estimating them. I picked dubs assuming they are healthy after 1st series. Malli main player injury aithe rockets will make finals.
If finals between Dubs and Cavs - 85% dubs, 15% cavs - I don't think cavs win more than a game
If finals between rockets and cavs - Cavs 60%, Rockets 40%. - I don't think rockets have a player who can guard lbj for 40 min.

I think you are under-estimating Rockets. MDA's defense is unfairly criticized...his teams play decent defense for their talent level. aa horrible Suns, Knicks teams tho aa matram defense aadatam ekkuva. This Rockets team is solid defensively...they will miss on of their key defenders and UCLA Bruin Luc atleast for first round...but think they will be ok defensively.
If Curry is not going to be fully fit, Rockets have a great shot at championship. |

The winner gets the last playoff spot in the West and probably slides into the No. 7 seed to face the Warriors. However, both teams can finish as high as No. 6 with a win and No. 8 is in play for Minnesota (if the Pelicans and Thunder win).

Most people under-estimate the roles of Chris Bosh/Kevin Love. Lbj runs the offense through them. Lbj can cover all holes but that hole is very tough. lbj know that anduke alanti players kosam 1st pick ni kuda trade chestadu... They space the floor, shoot 3's and clear space for lbj to go to rim. K love vundi vunte, last odipoyina 4 games lo 2 games easy ga geliche vallu....
Saarang chepinattu 2 tough series kastam emo, anduke easy pacers best first round lo but if K love is healthy and new players show up as they are now, lbj can pull it in east playoffs.

They did about the very best repair job they could in a stunning series of deals that sent out six players and two draft picks, including the Cavs' 2018 first-round pick, in exchange for four rotation guys who fit much better around LeBron. In swapping (deep breath) Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Iman Shumpert, Jae Crowder, Channing Frye, and Isaiah Thomas for (inhales again) George Hill, Rodney Hood, Jordan Clarkson, and Larry Nance, Jr., the lethargic Cavs got younger; exchanged bricky ball-handlers for shooters; and added two switchy defenders who can hang -- when engaged -- against elite offenses.
We have to see how the pieces fit before declaring anything. The Cavs have almost an entirely new team, and no time to develop chemistry. That is one upside of playing a system that amounts to "Do stuff, LeBron": there isn't much to learn beyond doing what LeBron says. But there is a good chance Cleveland has restored itself as the presumptive favorite in the East without sacrificing their most important safety net in the event of another LeBron doomsday scenario.
Quibble if you want -- and we will -- but that is a big, big win for the Cavs and GM Koby Altman, who no longer looks as "young" and "overwhelmed" and whatever other adjective his anonymous critics might have proffered 48 hours ago. |

Cleveland has had a landmark deadline period, one that improves both their present and future. But there is no guarantee that it will change their destiny in either time frame.
The Cavs were able to walk a tightrope with all these trades. They reset their team this season without jeopardizing their future. To be sure, there are still a lot of questions about the direction of the franchise. All they really did was create a way to get out of a hole they dug for themselves. Cleveland isn’t much closer to being able to beat Golden State in the Finals, and there’s no guarantee they will be a title contender again if LeBron leaves. At the very least, though, they have raised their floor. This version of the Cavs won’t embarrass themselves this season, and they won’t be as embarrassing as they were after LeBron left town the first time. Considering where they were at the start of Thursday, that has to count as a win. |

Only 2 teams improved in the East...Cavs and Pistons...but both of them took lots of long term money to get better now. But, Cavs seem to have played a decent gamble on younger athletic players other than George Hill.
Pelicans made a decent move to improve last week to try and make the playoffs..rest all watching for Golden State dynasty to fade.
Clippers and Lakers played this well. |

Adhi ok, they were important...but they were not going anywhere..they could have been resigned to a reasonable contract. Nobody was willing JR anything close to that because of his reputation to slack-off after contract years and Tristan was a restricted free agent and no team made him an offer. Lebron's agency will shut down the moment Lebron is not in his prime.
Already last year couple of restricted free agents from his agency got burnt burnt by turning down 70 Million+ contracts...they won't even get half of it now. |

Obviously, from lbj point of view, no need to prove anything to anyone. Lbj won’t move that easily this time from Cleveland. Winning 1 more in Cleveland gives him more satisfaction than winning 2-3 some where.

Even Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy noted the dangers of acquiring the injury-prone four-time All-NBA player, but he has to gamble to make the playoffs and put butts in the empty seats at Detroit’s new downtown arena. |

Pelicans traded a first round pick to get Nikola Mirotic and some cap space. If they sign Monroe, they should be favorites over Clippers to make the play-offs.

Raptors young guns are playing good but Celitcs have more ways to improve the team. Now they are favorites to sign Greg Monroe and can even improve by trades. I think there are good chances that Gordon Hayward will be back this year and if he is fully healthy will be their best player. |

The trade that would have sent George Hill to Cleveland was held up because the Cavs wanted Hill to agree to a buyout if LeBron James left as a free agent next summer.
"George Hill, they didn’t want to buy him out this year," said Brian Windhorst of ESPN. "What they wanted to do was protect themselves in the event that, if LeBron James left, whether George Hill would be willing to take a buyout on the $20 million he’s owed on his contract after this season." Essentially the Cavs asked Hill to sacrifice $20 million in guaranteed money if LBJ opted to leave, and Hill wasn't feeling that. Anything could happen, but at this point, a trade seems unlikely. |

Finals sare...asalu play-offs kooda not guaranteed with Blake's injury record. Like SVG as a coach but he should not be the President of Basketball Operations. Clippers robbed them here...Blake Griffin's contract is one of the worst in the NBA, i don't expect him to be healthy for 5 years. The picks are not going to be high, the real price is Tobias Harris and future flexibility. Pistons should have at least sent out Reggie Jackson.
I think Clippers get a lot of cap flexibility and can become free agency players now. They got out of potentially disastrous Blake Griffin and CP3 5 year max deals...Jerry taatha rocking. |

Jeff van gundy first lo used to have a good opinion...but he comes 4 times an year on Zach Lowe podcast and constantly criticizes teams resting players...thinks if a player can play he should always plan...that's totally outdated thinking. He was a big mentor for Thibs...Thibs is similar that he over uses his stars in regular season games and drains them out. |

Zach Lowe's MVP favorite...Giannis Antetokounmpo...looks like his time has come very early at age 22.

Holy god. What are you even supposed to do with this guy? Play off of him, and he uses the open space as a runway. If Giannis Antetokounmpo is barreling at a flat-footed defender in the paint, it's over. Your natural instinct -- the only thing you can do, really -- is to backpedal, and most defenders open their hips in one direction as they do. That gives Antetokounmpo a straight line to paydirt.
Somehow hold your ground, and Antetokounmpo buries his head in your chest, tips you off-balance, reaches up, and lays the ball in over your head.
Press him, and he zips around you. He doesn't even need to blow past you; if he just gets side-by-side, he reaches his arm to a spot you can't, and flicks the ball up.
The only answer is to send help, and that is old hat for Antetokounmpo now. He sees every possible pass, and with arms that long, almost every pass is possible. When Thon Maker is at center and the Bucks slot four shooters around Antetokounmpo, they will get a high-value shot every single time.
He's getting better at everything. His passing advanced last season. So did his rim protection. He has a soft little floater now, and a Dirk-ish slide-back jumper for post-ups late in the shot clock.
He knows how much defenses fear him. He is mastering little tricks that play on that fear -- subtle acts of cruel puppetry. Watch how he spooks the entire Portland defense into gearing up for a drive, only to pivot into a handoff that gets Tony Snell a wide-open triple:
Antetokounmpo is thinking one and two steps ahead.
LeBron's place as the league's best player should remain unquestioned until he can't reach peak levels in May and June. But Giannis is coming. |

Early season trends...at the top of the Easter Conference is Orlando Magic totally rocking at 4-1. They totally whacked the Spurs today.
Until today's game the Spurs were totally rolling without Kawhi and have looked like the best team in the West so far.
Larry legend goru Vogel ni fire chesinappude cheppa...he is a great coach...you never let go when you have found one..looks like Magic has some good days ahead..they fired their incompetent GM, hired Vogel and looking like a play-off team. |

All of these teams, save the Spurs, acquired future Hall of Famers. The Thunder likely snagged two! The upgrades give most of them flexibility to toggle between potent big lineups and even more potent smaller ones -- a must-have malleability against Golden State. And yet they all remain massive underdogs.
The Warriors, when healthy, are almost a perfect team. They do not have an exploitable weakness, and if you have one, they are uniquely constructed -- among all teams, ever -- to exploit it. It's unfair.
Every permutation of Oklahoma City and Cleveland still shelters at least one one-way player. That is normal, even for champions! These teams are all awesome! Last season's Cavaliers were awesome -- one of the greatest offensive teams ever! Regular awesome probably won't be good enough against a Warriors team that should be even better after a year getting to know Durant.
The Spurs aren't sexy. They are a regular-season woodchipper that doesn't always have the fabled extra playoff gear. But their standard gear revs hotter than almost anyone can reach. Until proven otherwise, they belong here.
LeBron always belongs here. He just needs some luck, and likely a Golden State injury, to have a realistic shot at toppling the Warriors four times in seven tries.
This is Golden State's shot at real NBA immortality. The Warriors will likely enter the playoffs having capped the most dominant four-year regular-season run ever. Barring health issues or some league-shattering trade, finishing with two titles in four tries would count as a crushing disappointment. Winning three in four puts you among the gods.
History suggests they will face adversity. Repeating is hard. Only four teams have ever even made four consecutive Finals. Two were completely spent by the fourth trip.
But given Golden State's age and collective talent, their journey ahead doesn't look as arduous. The title is theirs to lose. |
