Intaku mundu cheppanu anukunta, MS Subbulakshmi gaaru padina Bhajagovindam mottam kaadu, she selected few slokas and sung it, like ghantasala bhagavadgita.
Interest unte cheppandi, I have a good PDF with all slokas and meaning of each sloka. Its a good read, where Sankaracharya is the only one who says anyone Moodhamati so bluntly explains life..Koradato kottinattu cheptaru..

Sam:now listening matters...
exactly, since the total hours is too much, the following tips will help
1, listen while working out in gym,
2. Listen while air travel, this is perfect time to listen and focus..
3. If your commute to office is more put the cd on, total size is 684MB so it comes as MP3 CD and can play in car.
4. Listen during long drives.
I completed my second listen fast due to air travel of 4:30hrs one way..

I think this is the good time to start with understanding Bhagavadgita.
Swamy Chinmayananda gave a complete explanation of Bhagavad-Gita at Chinmaya Mission West "Krishnalaya" Piercy California during May 29 to July 3, 1991
This has complete explanation of 701 verses of 18 chapters of bhagavadgita. This is charged at $500 for set of video DVD's.

One of my friend who is so much into this wanted listen complete discourse as we get to listen only few videos during the chinmaya mission balavihar classes on Sundays.
He was so upset seeing the cost which he couldn't afford, but badly want to listen to it. Then it took around a week for me to search in internet to get the audio version of the complete set.
Searched internet and got the audio files for these videos, ( took a week to google it) We shared it to very limited persons and the feedback is why didn't we get hold of this 20 years ago.
Total 124 hours of audio, quality will be low have to listen on high volume.

The follows are different stages to get enlightenment...
1. Acquire Knowledge: This can be either thru a teacher, reading books, listening, Satsang or thru many other ways ( some born genius like great saints are exception )
In this stage, the biggest obstacle to go to the next level is having ego of spiritual knowledge. The moment we feel that we know more than anyone else, there will be no progress and we are stuck. To get out that it takes lot of effort and sometimes it requires huge effort. If the ego is not controllable even then, we will need an external help.
2. Spiritual Practice:
Implement what we have learnt. Like all good deeds.. This is the first time we will start getting experiences that we will be awestruck. The more we practice what we have learnt and understood, the more belief and faith we have and the more practice we will try to do and gain more experiences.
3: Devotion: Its like in this stage you try to correlate everything with GOD. Every action, every object, every person, every word will be associated or related to GOD. Once we try to get into this stage, our Ego will completely cease. we feel our every action will be to/for/by GOD.
At the end of this stage is where we attain enlightenment which means we realize and feel that there no dual in this universe, its all one.
Every stage of this journey is experience, there is no validation of every stage except for the knowledge. If this spiritual journey is 100%, 5% is knowledge and rest is practice and experience. Thats how it is complicated.
There are millions of years and people till now trying to attain, but no one was able to bench mark a process or path is because its different and unique to each person. Else if one have attained everyone would follow the same path and got enlightened. It didn't happen is the very reason to know that each one is different.

Unless you practice what you know, there is no realization of ultimate truth. Moreover there is no proof or validation when they say they got enlightened, unless you see them practice what they saw.. Budda, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Kanchi Sankaracharya, Ramana Maharshi, all of them showed what is their realization, andukani vallu cheppe daniki value..

Except for earth, there will not be any spiritual progress or help on any other lokas, so they cannot go to different planes directly without coming to earth.
The Patala loka is most toughest plane for one to be as going there sometimes takes 60000 earth years to come out. Committing suicides or causing major loss to a nation/state will directly take to there. There very few will be there so its almost like solitary being there for ever.

So when we die, the physical body remains on the earth, The prana sakthi is released to universe, the subtle body that is without physical body, will remain on the earth for 13 days before it goes to Maharlok, where it will be decided where this subtle body goes.
Once it goes to maharlok, the memory of that particular life is erased before it goes to next plane/loka.
The average time one spends in Maharlok will be based on how soon it is decided to go to next loka..
Once we spend time in any of the assigned loka based on our sins/punya, we spend our time there and come back again to Maharloka.
Here the next life on earth is decided, for that we need to wait until our parents are decided and available for our arrival. This might take upto 500 years of earth years.
We need to remember each of these lokas are in different times..

Actually what came in Andhrajyothi is wrong, the mother prayed with her boy when she came when his age was 3.5 at that time he could say couple of words, nothing else. But after that he developed and starting talking more words. After 14 years she got chance to come to Tirupathi..

Nbkfan123:i feel some one is looking after you either your forefathers good spirits or your prayers or some other. this is from my experience.
As I said prayers are never answered by GOD himself, it is answered by intensity,sincerity and based on your destiny. It can be your ancestors, people who have abundant good karma to spare or deities. Some times if it is suffering you pray to get rid of it might be just post poned..

good thread.
mf very good read, few i want to share.
when your struck some where not knowing how to proceed when you feel you need some help it will arrive you will reach destination unknowlingly.
i feel some one is looking after you either your forefathers good spirits or your prayers or some other. this is from my experience.
i also heard few interesting stories from my elders some stories from earlier forefather generations.
1)one of earlier generation(3rd or 4th generations earlier) forefather is in deathbed and all relatives are crying Fore father requested to stop crying saying he is not seeing the light to leave the body to proceed to next levels.when relatives stopped crying his pranam left.
2)one of forefather has met with guru he got some guidance and he was told he will have a very good death meaning manishi athma will leave body in several forms through mouth/eyes/via from top of his head(kapala moksham). Kapala moksham happens to people who had practiced good deeds and spirituality like sadhus etc. so this forefather was told by his guru he will leave his life by kapala moksham. so when the time his death arrives he comes to his brother and says iam going to die and my athma will leave from my head it will open or something and dont feel afriad etc. and he died like tht, and what i heard is when some one dies like tht 7 generations on either side will get moksham when they die. i have no idea these are interesting stories i heard want to share.

As long as we are in Maya, we have fears, suffering and everthing. Once Ramana Maharshi had severe injury to leg, he was laughing and normal even with pain, when some one asked how can you laugh, he says, its my leg who has problem not me, That kind of realization one should have, to have bliss.
The character of GOD is SatChitAnanda, that is the main character. We tend to always be happy when not knowing what is happiness. So we always feel we are suffering, when we get cold we are unhappy, but for someone cold might not be an issue at all,. so the problem lies in definition of our happiness. Once we know that everything is we and is indeed happiness, there is no room for unhappiness or suffering.

Practise is the only way, Either by Gnana, Bhakti, Karma or Raja Yoga, the paths defined. There is no defined period that if you practice this much you will reach that level. As Shirdi Sai Baba says Sradha and Saburi, Patience and Devotion is the rule, there is no alternative to that.

Many people say this story, If you are in a jungle and you dont know how to get out of it, you cannot go past without a guide, Without a guide, you might go ulitimately, but you might be constantly roaming around or if you are lucky after so many years you might be successful, But if you have a guide who knows the forest very well, you are sure that you can cross it without any problem.
Same with Guru, so one should not ask what they want, all they need to ask is Guru's blessings, and let him drive our lives, if that happens we all are set..
But prayer should not be with an expectation, it should just help us to attain Guru's blessings..

The concept of why we all exists is the same in all religions, thats why the soul/atma concept is the same. We all feel that we exist thru five senses and intellect. But how does GOD sees himself when everything is HE Himself?
For example if we want to see ourselves, we see in mirror, If we as form is GOD, the mirror is Maya and the image in mirror is atma. which is nothing but our Atma. When maya goes away, we don't exist.
So its all GOD that he wanted to see himself so we exists in different forms. Once we exist, we due to law of karma, we get into the infinite loop/cycle of birth/death. If we take out Maya, which is possible only due to spiritual practice and Intellect only human has, we can realize that we both are same, then this cycle ends.
Now how to find Guru, you dont it happens automatically, when you are ready with your spiritual practice and growth. Its mutual search, so one will realize when they are ready..

Life is purely on our balance sheet, we are destined to what we do and it is impartial to everyone. Every life on this earth suffers one way or other. There might be more good times for people who are high on +ve karma. and it is horrible for people who are more on bad karma..
Basically GOD is mere spectator, many of us pray to GOD and ask him to help us, but many say he is real spectator of the happenings. Everything is pre-assigned to manage the creation, they are there to take care of. All our prayers will not be answered by GOD, it will be answered by those deities who are responsible for those things we ask. But if our destiny is stronger than our prayers, then either it might not be fulfilled or might be answered partially.

Karma is basically an action that you do, everything we do is a Karma/action, we often misunderstand as fate/destiny and so on..
Its just the action we do, the talk, the walk, everything..
The karma whether is good or bad is defined by the dharma of that particular Yuga. We are in Kaliyuga which is the last of 4 yugas and in this the actions which are treated as -ve in past yugas are not marked as -ve in this yuga. Simply we can say anything that results in positive is a good karma/action, which results in -ve is a bad karma/action.
So your count in this life is calculated automatically against your atma, which is like Social security number or adhar ID..

For all these there are remedies, having Spiritual practice will resolve minor and moderate, having Guru help you will resolve major destiny. He can change any destiny that you have, provided he should feel to do so, we cannot do anything, if he is not willing to..

Then how do you suffer, why do one suffer. Some forms of -ve karma needs some form of body to clear that karma. So what happens is in other lokas you might have cleared somethings but there might be an overflow into the human birth that you have to clear the balance. So this is something one is destined to.
There are categories of destiny, minor, moderate, severe,
Minor is like cold, fever and so on,
Moderate is like financial losses, material loss, getting married or having children kind of issues,
Major are like calamities, accidents, which are destined to happen..

I will try to explain in simple terms what is the cycle.
Now as I told earlier your score is -9000 and +1000. So once you die in one life, you also have accumulated the give and take ratio between different people. for example, you helped more a person or you took help from few persons, or whom ever you interacted, you might have developed a ratio of give and take.
so the maximum percentage which is 27 of 100, becomes your spouse. If more persons have that ratio, you will have multiple spouses Divorces happen or spouse might leave you early, when this give and take has burned out between the two persons. Then next comes your parents, children and then siblings and finally friends.. These all are predefined at the time of your birth.. How you maintain relationship is your actions, your tatva, which is your personal character and so on..
