In the service sector, computers are increasingly able to substitute knowledge workers. By 2025, the impact of automation is likely to be significant, as c70m of knowledge workers, or around 12% of the OECD workforce could be at risk. Robots are increasingly able to perform ‘complex routine’ tasks such as employee on-boarding, credit applications or reporting, and will eventually take over most routine tasks currently performed by sales or legal assistants, for example. Economics work in favour of software robots which come at a third of the cost of workers in EM and a tenth of the cost in DM. Importantly, a virtual workforce creates operational leverage; it can be scaled at low marginal cost and respond to peaks in demand.

idi torture..I went through all this in 2014 Jan, massive layoffs. lucky gaa maa Sr.Director recommendation meeda vere dept lo join ayyanuuu..

now the same old dept is asking to come back..I said NO..

ee TCS, Congnizant and Accenture valla bagaa bokka FTE..no offense to those who are employed with those companies..

naa colleague ni (almost working with him from 6 years), 5 weeks back sacked. he recently got divorced and not have much saving in his bank.

with all his savings he can go 3-4 years, after that he need to depend on govt pension.

he is 57 years old and currently living in shared accommodation.

vedantam anukoka pote, we all struggle between our fate (prarabdham ) and time. Both don't hesitate to come and go, irrespective of who we are, what we do and how we do things.

Its very unfortunate to see thru people whom we are very close suffer like this. Only thing we can do is to pray for them to settle soon in their lives. And I hope they will.. Even though time will resolve things, I hope that time will come soon :-( :-(
