As per the present circular of the Government of India, conversion of PIO card to OCI card is not mandatory but is encouraged. One can travel on their existing PIO cards and applying for OCI cards in lieu of PIO cards is optional.

On visa you have to report in police station every 6 months if you stay over 6onths. You need to get a police clearance certificate if you over stay before return.

Also on visa you cannot own properties but with oci you can. Property related advantages are more on pio/oci and they are not on visa

OCI is life long, visa is not

what is the advantage of oci over visa?..I think visa processing is much faster than oci.

anni multiple entry visas.

Indian visa is multiple entry.

But visa on arrival is one time valid for 30 days and not extendable.
