Wish you all a happy new year!
March ki mana DB petti 13 years avuthundi. It has been a great journey for us. A journey full of great experiences and beautiful friendships.
But all good things have to come to an end. I'm contemplating on closing the DB sometime in March. For some of us it will be difficult to digest.
We have been there together for more than a generation. So it is not going to be easy but I feel we need to move on with times.
I hope you understand.

Gaali:Options.
1. Move to CCDB. Most of you are nyways members there. But if you want to keep out of the daily fights over there, just create a Bewarse Calling thread everyday and participate in that ignoring the rest. I'm sure even other CCDB guys will follow you.
2. Move to SBDBForums. This site is managed by my friend Yardstick. A very clean and well managed dicussion forum where the mods are strict. They don't allow caste based discos or abuse. Teh registrations are regulated but I can get you all in. The software for this is modern with many capabilities that we don't have here.
3. Move to twitter/fb or some other modern medium.
But if you guys are so attached to the domain name BT...
1. I can hand over the domain name to someone interested. Also, I personally feel that the DB software is so outdated that it will break pretty soon. The company which created this software is no longer in business so if something major happens it is a big pain.
2. Pool in money for server maintenance and domain renewal (costs me approx 500/yr - I think). It could be less/more on other hosts. But this is approx what I spend.
But don't be impulsive and senti while you think. Be logical.
I can pitch in ( Including the effort for support & maintenance of the website ) based on your decision. Let me know.
I dont wear spects, only wear contact lens(&goggles sometimes). Only code lang that i know are > c,c++,java,c# & scrpt lang.

To answer your question and also MF bros about maintenance, it is not like I'm spending a lot of time these days. Naa kanna Prassi ekkuva spend chesuntaadu.
These days, once a month or so I spend maybe 5 mins.
Those five minutes are to move the archived threads into the archive folder and approve any new users.

Ikkada I dont think finance is an issue, 20 members $25 contribute chesina ayipotundi..
Then comes time related issues, not sure how much time Gaali is spending per week on this DB. I think one of us can easily contribute that time.
Technical issues, like server, domain, software, maintenance, back up and others idi kooda I dont think is a huge hurdles to be show stoppers.
Gaali mama DB members ki oka roju Knowledge transfer cheste saripotundi..
I am not seeing these as road blockers to continue this DB.
Only one soft are is how Gaali as Admin managed so long is something very difficult for some one to fill in the shoes.
andarilo Passion undi, but Gaali did a tremendous job mainly evarini noppinchakunda, tanu feel ayyado ledo telvadu kani he appeared not to and manage it so well.
This is the area I guess will need someone who can be soft and tough to handle issues with DB members.

2. Pool in money for server maintenance and domain renewal (costs me approx 500/yr - I think). It could be less/more on other hosts. But this is approx what I spend.

Options.
1. Move to CCDB. Most of you are nyways members there. But if you want to keep out of the daily fights over there, just create a Bewarse Calling thread everyday and participate in that ignoring the rest. I'm sure even other CCDB guys will follow you.
2. Move to SBDBForums. This site is managed by my friend Yardstick. A very clean and well managed dicussion forum where the mods are strict. They don't allow caste based discos or abuse. Teh registrations are regulated but I can get you all in. The software for this is modern with many capabilities that we don't have here.
3. Move to twitter/fb or some other modern medium.
But if you guys are so attached to the domain name BT...

Made some good friends, had some great laughs.
Was following this DB since inception but started participating in 2005 . Pushara kalam sneham.
While many of you are exploring options to keep this DB alive, just an alternative suggestion - we can move to FB. Create a private page there and stick together as a group too. Would love to bond with my bewarse brothers as long as we could.

Gaali - I am there since the beta phase of this DB, I felt happy to move away from IBDB sincethen I never looked back to IBDB.
But did you consider transferring the ownership to one or two enthusiastic members of this DB who would be ready to continue this torch !!
I am sure some alternative will popup.

i believe oka 2 yrs back kooda we were thinking in the same lines, DB unchaala mooseyyaala leka verey software ki move avvaala etc...and after some thought we kept it...ofcourse janaala participation kooda peddaga undatledhu ee madhya,everybody is busy with their work and life...so your call Gaali bro...
but we will all feel some emptiness in our life for sure a few days as we got used to this DB for almost 13 years now...almost everyday for the past 13 years ,the first thing I do after I wake up is open our DB and check whats happening... |

Wish you all a happy new year!
March ki mana DB petti 13 years avuthundi. It has been a great journey for us. A journey full of great experiences and beautiful friendships.
But all good things have to come to an end. I'm contemplating on closing the DB sometime in March. For some of us it will be difficult to digest.
We have been there together for more than a generation. So it is not going to be easy but I feel we need to move on with times.
I hope you understand.
