Cavs rested him for 40 or more games and conditioned him as well as they could and he was still waste. long story short, this is as bad as Shanahan handling RG3 |

Unless they let go Paul and trade Ryan Anderson..they cannot get any more stars. I think the only reasonable way to get Lebron is a trade involving Ryan Anderson...but why will Cavs help Rockets anedhi big question.
Paul tho main advantage is they can keep Harden fresh...he always drops off by 2nd half without Paul. Also, one of them is on the floor for all 48 minutes...Lebron vasthe they won't be able to maximize Lebron and Harden...as both need ball in their hands. Paul is very good shooter...so he was mostly able to play off-ball when Harden was on the court. Also, don't think Lebron will come without Paul as they are very good friends. |

They are already in cap hell...they haven't signed any free agent last year (except minimum salaried guys)..it will continue as long as this core is around. The pain will only increase. Klay's contract will be done in 2019 and Dramond Green's will be done in 2020.
But they draft well, they bough a 2nd round pick from Chicago last year and drafted Jordan Bell..who was a team high +17 last night. They have all their first round picks going forward. Owner saying they will try to buy another pick this year. They may to use a pick to dump Livingston. |

Gordon Hayward didn't play 1 full game for boston, so he is not their top 2 player. Top 2 player for boston would be Al horford and he had ~25 ppg in their wins vs. bucks. If bucks won game 7, all this brad stevens hype would've been rightfully squashed
Looking holistically, one achievement brad was able to do is develop jayson tatum. with the same benchmark, Nate mcmillan improved victor oladipo and bojanovic, so he's better
tatum and mitchell are both rookies. Quin snyder got more out of his players in both regular season and playoffs. End of the day, both are above average, and there is no shame in that. But there's levels to this stuff, and both have ways to go |

Beating a coachless superstar with home court advantage and then beating bunch of rookies is not at all a great achievement, May be a great achievement for top 5-10 coach, def not a big thing for Great coaches like Pop etc..

I'll give an example. Looking back to 2007, lebron lost to spurs in finals, even though he was sensational in east leading into the finals
If we compare, lebrons current game to then, it looks pretty obvious now, but at that time I felt bad. But LeBron didn't have a post game then
My point is, stevens as amazing and hyped he is, needs similar conditioning. His team lived by the 3, but they need another plan when 3s are not falling and thats where they failed yesterday |

I don't think I'm being overly critical of brad stevens
He can't be all this amazing coach when they win and suddenly a coach without his stars when he loses the pivotal game. He gets the credit, he gets the blame, that's just how it is
And honestly, Quin Snyder of Utah impressed me more than Stevens. His best player was a rookie, and his serviceable point guard got injured midway through the series, yet he still won over a much hyped team |

a) be a great X's and O's guy and be a great schemer....brad showed he is a great schemer when he took a team with no gennuine all stars to within 1 game of finals..many senior players raved about his scehmes...
NBA lo coach draws plays right after timeout situations..in game, players run...after timeouts, boston has the highest FG %..this shows brad is grear x's and o's guy..
game 1 lo series lo he outcoaches the other coach,,,he sees things sooner than others from a personnel stand point..
b) develop young players...tatum, rozier and brown...all young players are being develped well..
c) maximize roster talent...exactly what he is doing now..kyrie, heyward lekundane idiki vacharu..
d) handle stars and their ego's...this has to be proved...still..idokkate waiting..
he is a stud coach now...top 3 in nba today...not a great coach yet.. |

This game showed that brad stevens isn't there yet as a coach. Maybe he could be like rick carlisle once they get gordon hayward and kyrie, but I don't see any signs of that. Yes, they ran over in the east, but lost to a 1 man team at home. Embarrassing |

Iggy unte the series would have been over by game 5. Iggy unna last game they won by 40 points...the drop from Iggy to his replacement Cook is a lot. Cook was a D-league player until Feb that could not get into the NBA for many years.

In the span of a few hours, the Rockets took on DeAndre Liggins from the Mavericks, Ryan Kelly from the Hawks, Tim Quarterman from the Blazers, Darrun Hilliard from the Pistons, and Shawn Long from the 76ers. On Thursday, Houston dealt for Jared Uthoff of the Dallas Mavericks. More moves like that could be on the way, as other teams rush to get in on what ESPN’s Brian Windhorst called a “salary-cap manipulation masterpiece” by the Rockets.

They will definitely not go for a rebuild...but they probably have the savviest and smartest GM in NBA...so he will keep tweaking in all possible ways. I think he will be forced into giving a monster deal for Chris Paul which will be risky but thinking he will go for it. |

The Celtics acquired Morris from the Pistons this summer in a deal where the team sent out Avery Bradley. It both cleared cap space for Boston to sign Gordon Hayward and gave Boston another versatile defender to throw at James.

Masai has done great work since taking over. He had to clean up a lot of terrible contracts when he first got the job. What he did to get this team here is legendary. Don't forget that.

By the time opponents know what's hit them, it's already too late. This is how the Warriors crush -- and how the NBA fails to fight back.
Cotton-thick snow flutters from an endless white ceiling, choking downtown Cleveland on this mid-January night. On steeper terrain, snow can turn sinister, transforming into a screaming wall of white that buries anything in its path. The NBA's most destructive force acts in similar fashion. Inside Quicken Loans Arena, it has lain dormant for three quarters, and now in the fourth, with the score tied at 93, it arrives slowly, subtly, like a snowflake falling from the sky.
It begins like this: Cavs guard Dwyane Wade misses a jumper, Warriors forward Draymond Green devours the rebound and rifles a length-of-the-court pass to teammate David West, who is fouled and sinks two free throws. Warriors guard Klay Thompson blocks a layup, Green collects the ball and feeds teammate Shaun Livingston, who races through the lane and lays it in. Four points, 20 seconds. Cavs players stare at the floor, their shoulders starting to sag. Coach Tyronn Lue calls timeout.
After the break, Cleveland misses twice more, then Thompson drills a turnaround baseline jumper. The Cavs score, West counters with a driving dunk. Another Cavs layup is blocked, then they miss again and are blocked again, then miss twice more before Livingston nails an uncontested one-handed floater on the other end. LeBron James shakes his head.
Assistant coach Mike Longabardi, the Cavs' defensive coordinator, drops his hands in despair. A sellout crowd of 20,562, once electric for this matchup between Finals foes, falls quiet. Lue calls timeout again, his team having scored two points in the past 5½ minutes, having missed 14 of its past 15 field goals. Kevin Durant springs off the Warriors' bench to celebrate with teammates. Coach Steve Kerr balls his hand into a fist.
After the second break, Green makes a wide-open layup after a laser pass from Livingston, and now -- in just 3 minutes, 23 seconds -- the Cavs trail by 10. They continue to splinter. James misses a free throw, his teammate Isaiah Thomas turns it over, two Cavs draw personal fouls, then James hurls a dreadful pass toward the corner that Nick Young steals -- before burying a corner 3 right in front of Cleveland's bench.
Before this game, Lue had warned, "They're the only team that you look at the game and it's a two-point game, and then you go to the bathroom, come back out and they're up 15." And now, exactly that has happened. In a span of 5 minutes and 36 seconds, the time it takes for that bathroom pit stop, his team has been hurled into a 14-point deficit. And now the Cavs players droop onto the bench. And now the Cavs fans begin to leave. And now Durant is waving his arms like a boxing referee stopping a fight. |

Finally...I think his contract is probably up.
Toronto management is reportedly "strongly leaning" towards making a coaching change.
Despite Toronto taking the No. 1 seed out East this season, the Cavs easily brush them off in just four games, so Dwane Casey's days are likely numbered as the head coach of the Raptors. His offense wasn't exactly innovative, and he made questionable decisions with the big man rotations, so his departure would be good news for Jonas Valanciunas. Assistant coach Nick Nurse will be in the running to take over, and Jerry Stackhouse will also likely be a name that comes up. |

Spurs assistant James Borrego is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach of the Charlotte Hornets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Borrego has 15 years of NBA experience. He was an assistant in San Antonio under Gregg Popovich from 2003 through 2010, before joining the Hornets for two seasons and then moving onto Orlando. He served as the Magic's interim head coach for 30 games after they fired Jacque Vaughn in 2015. He then headed back to San Antonio. Charlotte finished last season with a disappointing 36-46 record, despite having one of the league's highest payrolls. |

Raptors bench is as good as their starters...some argue they are even better than their starters...there won't be any drop-offs like when Victor Oladipo is in foul trouble or resting. Lebron will have to play 45+ minutes.

Rockets would have to totally gut the roster and move away from the contracts of Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson, PJ Tucker and not re-sign Trevor Ariza, Clint Capella...basically their No3 to N7 players to sign another max free agent. I think they would only do it for Lebron not for PG3.
Even with Lebron i am not sure if its worth it paying Lebron, CP3 and Harden...3 extremely ball dominant guys 40 Million+ each over the next 5 years...with no supporting cast around them. CP3 and Lebron are into mid-30s with lot of miles on them. Morey is really, really good at finding rotation players at the minimum salary...but this may not be worth it when they already have a championship level team. Dumping Ryan Anderson will cost picks...he MAY be able to move Eric Gordon and Tucker for free.
I think Sixers have a great shot at getting Lebron or Paul George....thats a much better fit for both guys with youthful roster and in a weak conference. |

Delayed thoughts/predictions on each series
East:
Raptors-Wizards: 4-1, Should be easy Raptors. Wizards are talented but have become horrible...looks like they need to break up the team. They could not defeat a tanking team on the last day of the season to get the 7th seed
Celtics-Bucks: Bucks in 7. Will be hard fought, looking for a Bucks upset against a severely depleted Celtics team. Bucks are the only team with an interim coach after the Jason Kidd coaching disaster.
Cavs-Pacers: Cavs in 6....Cavs have been horrible but was thinking they will not go past Raptors. Did not expect the round-1 disaster against pacers. Game 2 is effectively elimination game for Cavs.
Sixers-Heat: Heat are well coached but I think Sixers are strong favorites assuming Embiid returns for Game 3 or 4. My favorites to win the East.
Western Conference
Rockets-Wolves: Rockets in 5. Thibs vs MDA special.
Warriors-Spirs: Warriors. Easiest opponent for Warriors, Warriors in 5.
Jazz-OKC: Will be the most interesting and hard fought series. OKC in 7.
Pels-Blazers: Pelicans in 7...expecitng a hard fought tough series. |
