my first foreign trip from India was Germany. 1996 and 1998, each time 3 months in Germany. aa rojullo weekend vasthe baaga thirigevadini to the countries near by. Netherlands, France, Belgium, Luxemburg velle vallam.
It was completely different then, 5pm ki all shops close except Thursday until 8 pm. Sunday no shops. not many people could speak english. but beautiful place overall though. great memories.. |

Not just Asian, overall gaa Universities have reduced giving scholarships, so depending upon scholarships is not going to benefit.
There are many ways to mitigate the school fees. If cost is the key, then better be in state, that way you can manage the loan as well.

if you are looking for top colleges, yes its very tough. but if you are willing to send out of state there are lot of options

Yes getting into top college whether its MED or not always tough. even for Engg is tough.

Not to discourage Goodman, if the kid has passion then they need to be encouraged by providing the framework. Once they are in they will figure out whether they are in the game or not.
My other friend kid, went to florida from Michigan where its direct Med program, means he is guaranteed Med seat irrespective of the MCAT score.
Alanti programs set cheste kids will not think twice. His cost is 55K per year, and I think he would complete in 7 years, so around 385k+travel expenses. They are paying from pocket no loan.

Probably the pressure takes toll on them. Maa neighborhood lo oka doctor after 10 years of practice moved to IT. Maa peddodi classmate valla mother also did same thing some 15+ years as doctor in hospital, moved to teaching. There is money, but as is the pressure I guess.

You get loans the moment you get seat doesnt matter where.
But key is will kids continue that 10-12 years of rigorous study. I have seen very few kids stick to Medicine plan, they moved to others after 2-3 years. Not many in my circle went all the way.

In state medium scale university aithe fees around 10-13K boarding 10-12k and miscellaneous 5k per annum..25-28K per annum
Top university aithe 35K varaku avutundi..
Then out of state aithe the same tuition fees it will add up 20-25K. So it goes 45-50 K
This is for first 4 years..
Then same for another 4 years,,,
Tarvata residency which they get paid,, and then for specialty and Doctorate if needed.
so average 400K eskovachu,, for out of state and 250k for instate.
