Sunanda Upadhye, a 56-year-old Iselin section resident, drowned while walking to her home on Gill Lane early Thursday morning, Woodbridge police said. She was reported missing by her husband at about 2:28 a.m. when she didn't come home from work.
Officials learned she tried to walk on the road, which was impassable to vehicles. When officers and the fire department began a search of the flooded area, they found Upadhye deceased near the Cooper Ave. Park in Iselin at 6:44 a.m.
It has been two days since Nidhi Rana, 18, and Ayush Rana, 21, of Passaic went missing in the storm Wednesday night and were believed to have been caught in flood waters that carried them into a culvert that eventually flushes into the Passaic River. |
