General ga load ekkuva vunnappudu, rolling blackout chestharu through each region (that is power cut) to balance the grid. If one region (that is big enough)doesn't follow the ration and draws more power then grid becomes imbalanced and safety measures kick-in meaning auto trip. if it happens on a bigger scale, restoration is not easy. It happened in north east US and ontario for 2 days in 2003 and everything paralyzed, here the reason was different. |

On Monday, the Agra relay station had tripped to trigger a blackout. This time too, the station kicked off a domino effect after suspected overdrawal by some states in the eastern grid. Within a fraction of a second of the Agra station tripping, the northern, eastern and the north-eastern grids went down.

I don't know whether it is a diversion tactic but definitely the gap between load demand and generation is about -15% now. In developed countries they keep at about +10% at least. |
