Sridevi was born to Ayyapan and Rajeswari on 13 August 1963 in Meenampatti village near to Sivakasi of Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu. Her mother tongue is Tamil.



ilA cheppukunTunnArA arava tambilu??? she is born to rAjESvari and some other person. they went through divorce when SrIdEvi was barely 2-3 years and the lawyer that helped rAjESvari in the divorce proceedings was none other than ayyappan. he was already married by then and married rAjESvari. he treated SrIdEvi like his own daughter. later SrIlata was born to ayyappan and rAjESvari. ayyappan had one or 2 sons from the first marriage. SrIdEvi became a money minting machine for both the families. when rAjESvari died (ayyappan died by then), SrIlatha and the sons of ayyappan from the other marriage got together and fought with SrIdEvi for their share(?) in the properties and also the money paid by the hospital in NY who performed a surgery on rAjESvari on the wrong side which led to her death. boney stood by SrIdEvi during this crisis and eventually married. this is what I read in a magazine when SrIdEvi is married to boney kapoor..

She was born in Sivakasi in Southern Tamil Nadu to a Kamma family .There are approximately 4 million Telugu origin people in TN including Kammas, Reddys,Balijas etc who settled in TN during vijaynagara empire(400 years ago). Though some speak broken Telugu at home, they consider themselves Tamil. They celebrate Pongal and not ugadi. I am one of them and we all consider us tamils and not telugus. So Sridevi is tamil. However Tamils and Telugus share almost the same culture, so stop fighting.

Who is India's best music composer of all time?

AR Rahman (29%) might have received accolades at every possible stage including the Oscars but it is Ilayaraja (49%) who rules hearts down South. His association with Mani Ratnam and other noted filmmakers of Tamil and other languages paid him back in the poll when he escaled high among stalwarts such as SP Balasubramanyam (7%) and RD Burman (4%).

Who is India's greatest actor of all time?

From Soumitro Chattopadhyay to Dilip Kumar to Naseeruddin Shah, Indians have witnessed actors that were not only the epitome of method acting but were also the champions of invoking the mass hysteria. There is a famous anecdote that how Dilip Kumar had to seek assistance from shrinks when his inner soul refused to come out of the tragedy king mode. These stories led to some of the fantastic performances but not every actor seems to be remembered in the same breath.

The actors who were in competition for the award of Greatest Actor consisted of Balraaj Sahni, Dilip Kumar, Guru Dutt, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, MG Ramachandran, Shivaji Ganeshan, Uttam Kumar, Dr Rajkumar, Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Soumitro Chattopadhyay, Sanjeev Kumar, Gemini Ganesan, Pankaj Kapoor, Mamootty, NT Rama Rao, Mithun Chakraborty, Utpal Dutt and Chhabi Biswas.

Films and politics go hand in hand in South, and the vote percentage received by Telugu actor and former CM of Andhra Pradesh NT Rama Rao is an example of this. He captured 53% of the total votes as the greatest actor while Kamal Haasan received 44%. Malayalam stalwart Mohanlal and Kannada legend Dr Rajkumar got 1% each, rest people on the list failed to gather even 1% of the total votes.
