there are lots of issues
1. blood banking companies can go bankrupt.
2. amount of collected cells may not be enough for any real usage
3. chance of using cells is extremely low
4. some blood disorders will be there in cord blood as well. so it is useless in this case
5. Chance of using sibling or parents transplantations are more likely than using cord blood cells
some people were saying there were lot of advances in stem cell research and it may be useful in the future.
If the family has any genetic disorders, this may be ok otherwise it may be waste of money |

Experience ledu as I was not aware of this 11 years ago. It would be a fantastic idea to do though, because I have seen too many issues with AML in the recent past on my wife's family side. |
